Guinea pig: Hair Loss plus weight Loss?? HELP!!!?

*I have a female guinea pig who gave birth last 2 weeks ago. It is just now that I noticed her extreme hair + weight loss. It never happened when she gave birth to her first baby that makes me feel so worried , I even separated her 2 babies just to give her space, pure relaxation, relieve from stress etc. What seems to be the problem? I even freaked out when I saw her this morning. HELP HELP HELP.. I'm worried of her condition... Thanks!
She's eating normally and it makes me worry much more of her weight loss. Any disease which can lead to weight loss?

As the previous poster said, she probably has mites. Giving birth can cause stress, and stress often causes an outbreak. Seperating the babies does NOT help, because it will make her even more stressed and anxious.

Fungal infections rarely cause weight loss. I'm guessing she's losing weight due to stress. Please watch her carefully and make sure she's eating and pooping normally. If she isn't? Take her to the vet immediately! She could have a URI (upper respiratory infection), which can be life-threatening.

I would /highly/ suggest treating for mites, though, even if you don't think she has them. Almost every pig has a small amount of mites that the immune system can generally keep under control. Don't worry if you don't see any improvement in the first week, sometimes it takes as many as 5 or 6 weekly doses to completely rid her of the painful mites.

Is there a formula for rate of weight loss with respect to calories under weight-maintenance levels?

Say that consuming 2,000 calories per day will cause a person to maintain weight; is there a formula to determine how rapidly that person will lose weight if they consume, say 1,500 calories per day (or 500 calories under the level required to maintain current weight)? Does current weight play a part in this calculation?

3500 calories = 1 pound, so if your body uses 2000 a day and you start eating 1500 a day you would burn 500 calories a day, you do that for a week or 7 days, and that = 500 X 7 for 3500 calories lost in a week or 1 pound loss for a week
